His unique expertise in understanding, applying, and teaching the strategies and tactics that motivate philanthropic giving is based on his extensive work with major donors.

As the National Director of Philanthropic Services for the wealth management firm myCFO, Jay worked with individuals, families, and businesses to identify and develop their philanthropic interests and find ways to express those interests through charitable giving. He was responsible for the development of Brown University’s philanthropic planning program within the principal gifts department. Jay created The Strategic Gift System, a training curriculum for planned and major gift fundraisers that empowers major and planned giving staff to connect with donors, discover their agendas, and act accordingly. He also developed the Philanthropy Coach training program to equip financial planning professionals with strategies and tools to help their clients integrate philanthropy into their estate planning in broader and deeper ways.

Jay is the chair-elect for the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning. He speaks regularly at fundraising conferences, is widely published, and is recognized as one of the leading major gift and gift planning experts in the country.
